The Foundation has been set up by Clare’s husband Chris following her recent death to provide financial grants to help get small worthy environmental projects off the ground.
It is very early days as Clare only passed away in January 2022 but it is Chris’s wish and promise to Clare that he would do this in her memory and their joint love of the outdoors.
The deterioration of British rivers and the surrounding countryside is truly shocking and the aim of CWF will be to provide funds to help in small ways to reverse what has made the UK the most wildlife depleted country in Europe.
Donations to the Clare Winsor Foundation are always welcome.
Chris & Clare Winsor travelled extensively during the 30 years of their marriage, but it was more recently during the Covid pandemic that they took particular interest in the UK and the state of British wildlife during several fishing and holiday trips they made to Devon, County Durham, North Yorkshire and the Cairngorms.
Respect. Sustainability. Authenticity. We believe deeply in all of these values, and they form the basis of our thinking when looking for environmental projects to champion.
Fair fish
Try to use only responsibly farmed fish, including salmon and tuna.
Local agriculture
Consider using locally produced products (or grow your own).
100% organic
Not easy we know, but when organic options are available, that's what we choose, or 25% organic is better than never.
No pesticides
Start with your own garden. Remember no bugs = no birds.
No Waste
Don’t cook too much and try and minimise the use of your food caddy. Remember all peelings are for compost not food waste.
Green logistics
So where did that pomegranate come from?
